"I had the privilege of having Sra. Torres as my teacher for AP Spanish and AP Spanish Literature, so for two years. The way she taught the class was perfect. She moved at just the right pace so that my classmates and I could learn in the most efficient way possible. She always made sure we understood the material, which could get very difficult at times. 10/10 teacher.
Apart from being an amazing teacher, she is also a wonderful person. I had the privilege of traveling to Brazil with my friends on an exchange program, and she was our chaperone. During that trip, I got to see what she was like outside the classroom. I had many great conversations with her. She's such a fun person and honestly one of the friendliest people I know. She told us a ton of stories, like about when she used to live in Brazil, and her teacher side even came out when she started teaching us Portuguese!
In conclusion, if I could, I'd 100% have her as a teacher again. Easily one of my all-time favorite teachers. Thank you for everything you did for me!"

"Mrs. Torres’s junior year AP Spanish Language class was remarkable for its applicability to all levels of Spanish speakers. I was brought up speaking Spanish to my Chilean mother and never had training in the language other than my middle school classes which were too fundamental for my knowledge of the language. In my class, I had peers with vastly different backgrounds. Some spoke Spanish in their home, some went to a dual-language middle school, and others learned enough to enroll in the class with their two years of high school training.
Despite all of these differences, Mrs. Torres—Señora Torres as we called her— elevated every student's ability to speak, write, and read Spanish. She had a firm and engaging command of the classroom and retained my attention and that of my peers for the full 50-minute period we had daily. I should mention too that it was an all boys school.
I enjoyed that the homework assigned never felt like busy work. She masterfully wove in culture from different Spanish-speaking countries into our reading assignments, which primarily taught us advanced prose. Having scored a 5, I was able to benefit from Señora Torres’ class both directly and indirectly, since it counted as a humanities course that I put toward my degree in engineering. If I were to pursue learning Italian or Portuguese, I would certainly seek the instruction of Mrs. Torres."

My name is Alp Ayata and I am currently a Junior at Northeastern University College of Engineering. I had the pleasure of being one of Mrs. Torres' students throughout high school and I have nothing but positive remarks about my experience. I started learning Spanish as a Sophomore in high school, with no prior experience in the language. Through 2 years with Mrs.
Torres I was able to get to the AP Language level, getting a 5 on the exam. Mrs. Torres is interactive and very understanding in her teaching methods. She is capable of adapting to each of her students separately, patching up their specific weaknesses without omitting more advanced topics. This can also be seen through her extremely high AP class average scores when she taught at St. Peter's Preparatory. I am still in contact with Mrs. Torres 3 years post-grad, and can confidently say that she is one of those professors I will never lose contact with. Without her I would have never gotten to speak my mind in Spanish.
